20th January: NFAAA Committee Meeting.
The Secretary and Vice Chairman attended the meeting at RNA Hanworth
22nd January: Kent Branch AGM
12th February: CDA Memorial Service in Ramsgate. The Branch was represented by six members with our Chairman laying a Poppy Wreath, on completion members retired to a local hostelry for refreshments.
26th February: Due to severe weather conditions only five members made the meeting at the Ramsgate RNA Club, so the meeting was held at the bar.
6th – 9th April. NFAAA AGM and Reunion Weekend The Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary attended the Reunion weekend in Kettering.
5th May. Army v Navy Rugby Match. The Navy were leading until the only International player we had was sent off for head butting. Members still enjoyed the beer, banter and booze even though we lost the game, there’s always next year.
18th May. Eastchurch ObservanceWith the use of the Margate Sea Cadet mini-bus eight members travelled to Eastchurch for the Observance.
20th May. NFAAA Memorial ServiceThis is held annually at the Memorial on the seafront at Lee-on-Solent, the Association took responsibility of this event after the TAG’s disbanded. On completion of the Service and Parade, lunch was held at the Lee-on-Solent Golf Club.
30th June. Armed Forces DayThe Parade in Ramsgate formed up at the Sailors Church and marched around the harbour for a Drum Head Service in front of the Pavilion. With Service Personnel, Veteran Associations and Cadet Units the Parade was very well supported, along with a large public crowd. It was a very hot sunny day so the refreshments at the Ramsgate RNA were very welcomed on completion
18th July. Peter Nixon “crossed the Bar”Peter was a co founder of the Kent Branch and our Chairman before moving to Wales.
28th July. Pembroke House Garden Party.Unfortunately only four members were able to attend this years Garden Party, we managed to join up with Alan Lloyd and his friend Tony for an enjoyable afternoon with Shep Woolley to entertain us all.
13th October. NFAAA Committee and General meeting.This was held at the RNA Club Hanworth, the Vice Chairman and Secretary attended.
22nd October. Pembroke House meeting. The meeting planned for May was unfortunately cancelled so this is our first and only meeting at Pembroke House for 2018. Sadly it would turn out to be the last time we had the chance to see and talk with Alan Lloyd.
2nd November. Taranto Dinner. There was an increase in numbers for this years Dinner which shows how much members and friends enjoy the event. The evening was a total success, good food, drink and excellent company.
10th November. Ramsgate War Graves Act of Remembrance at Ramsgate Cemetery War Graves.
11th November. Remembrance Day Members were present at a number of Parades around Kent; the Chairman was in Chatham and carried the RNA Standard for his Branch, while our Almoner (Maggie Lees) laid our Poppy wreath at the Margate Parade and Service.
8th December. Christmas Lunch. The Christmas Lunch is proving to be one of the most popular Branch functions we hold judging by the numbers attending this year. The turn out of Christmas jumpers, ties and socks was excellent.
